CNN Audio launches The Account — Finally, In-Depth Journalism
With declining ratings, the firing of its CEO Chris Licht last year, the meddling of entitled owner David Zaslav, and the firing of some of CNN’s best correspondents, you would assume that CNN is close to self-immolation.
However, amid all the chaos and confusion, a bright spot for CNN has been CNN Audio. The podcast network has performed well in the last two years. More importantly for those concerned with quality, CNN Audio has given listeners some true gems — from The Assignment with Audie Cornish, The Axe Files with David Axelrod, The Prince Mixtape, and All There Is with Anderson Cooper.
CNN Audio has launched its latest podcast offering, The Account from CNN. The Account is CNN’s new home for powerful, narrative-driven audio storytelling. The series will consist of multi-episode seasons featuring in-depth reporting from the network’s unparalleled roster of global journalists as they immerse listeners in dynamic news stories.
“We are launching The Account as a home for audio-first storytelling built specifically for listeners, not just adapted for them,” said CNN Audio Executive Producer Steve Lickteig. “This narrative style gives our journalists the space to comprehensively capture their reporting from multiple angles and points of view, and each series within the feed will showcase a story uniquely suited to our reporters’ expertise — stories best experienced through the depth and intimacy of podcasting.”
