Excellent article Catherine. You’ve exposed a pernicious myth. Last year, there were over 600 accidental gun deaths. Inside that number is 356. That’s the number of people killed by “a good guy with a gun” who accidentally shot and killed someone because he thought that person was a criminal. That includes family members. The “good guy with the gun” shot and killed 302 people who were actually either trying to rob him or attack him. So the “good guy with the gun” killed more innocent people than people committing a crime.
