Great article, Caren. Interesting research. One core tenet of political conservatives is that the government should not interfere with free market capitalism. Yet, when their political goals clash with their core tenets, they seem to favor expediency. Here are some recent examples: the Banning of masks in businesses; the punishment of a business because it did not agree with your legislation (Disney in Florida) and now the FIND law. Yet, The Trump Administration dismantled basic safeguards to clean air and water, all because of the unfettered nature of free market capitalism. Therefore, regulation of private businesses is only evil when those companies do what Republicans want. Wait, isn’t there a name for that? Oh, yes. It’s the F word.
