I too lived in the south and your assertion that history is taught accurately there may be stretching the facts. In Texas for example, school districts taught that slaves were paid by plantation owners and were “ workers.” Until 2015. We lived in Georgia and one day my son came home from the sixth grade and wanted to know more about Alexander Stephens, the Confederacy’s VP and author of the Cornerstone speech, because his teacher said he was the greatest VP in US history.
