I’d agree that Garland would have made a better SCOTUS than AG. I think Biden and the Democrats are worried that when the Republicans control Congress in 2023 they will begin legal proceedings against Biden if Trump is indicted. However, even if Trump is not indicted (and I agree with you, he won’t be), the Republicans will probably impeach Biden at least once, spend 24/7 on Hunter Biden hearings, and indict the HHS and Transportation Secretaries.
