Melissa, great article. I’ve listened to the Dolly Parton America podcast and, you’re correct, she’s a creative and business genius. While she actively promoted that “floozy” persona at the beginning of her career, it’s truly a mask. A “smart” woman was not accepted well in the 70s and 80s. I believe we’ve moved past that objectivation as a culture, except for some trolls.
