Terrific article, as always. People tend to think of “British Invasion” music of the 60s as a monolith. Yet, many of those bands had distinct sounds. The Kinks were innovative sonically and caustic social critics. Waterloo Sunset may be their best song although not as well known as You Really Got Me.
