Your artistic review was excellent. Great points. I agree that the film should not be canceled although I’m not sure what that means with respect to movies. However, I read the HBO trigger warning - “this film denies the horrors of slavery.” I don’t see that warning as an example of extremist censorship. After all, movies and TV offer letter classification warnings before programs. And while all of us should agree that slavery in this country was an abomination, there are apparently millions who still view it as a vestige of their cultural legacy. So the thinking for yourself works, as you mentioned, but there are limitations. I know that the trigger warning HBO used is one of those compromises no one ever likes. But it does the job without impinging on freedom of expression. Just my view. Again, well done on the article.
